What Are The Best Clip-In Hair Extensions? Human Hair Or Synthetic?

When you are considering clip-in hair extensions it can be difficult to know whether the best clip-in hair extensions are human hair or synthetic. Here are the main differences.

To begin with, there is the matter of how long clip-in hair extensions will last, and the answer is that with proper care human hair extensions will last up to 12 months. Synthetics generally last no longer than six months.

From the styling point of view, human hair can be styled using any form of curling tong or flatiron without causing any damage. Synthetics which are largely made of plastics will be damaged if subjected to heat. While synthetics can be purchased either curled or straight you won’t be able to make any changes to them.

Human hair can be dyed in the same way as your natural hair, but synthetics don’t work the same way. Synthetics simply cannot absorb water or any liquid. While there are some dyes on the market for synthetic hair extensions, they can only be used to darken them, not to lighten them.

From the point of view of appearance and texture, human hair extensions are often made of a very high grade of hair that is thick and full. Some of the best is Indian hair which is purchased from temples where Indian women shave their heads for religious reasons. On the other hand, synthetic hair extensions often have a coarse texture and can have an unnatural shine.

Then there is the question of cost. The simple fact is that most often synthetic clip-in hair extensions will be cheaper because they are made from plastics and other fibres that are cheap to manufacture. Human hair extensions usually cost more because it is real human hair. However, even though they cost more they can actually work out as the best buy from the cost point of view for the simple reason that they can last twice as long as synthetic hair extensions.
